The content below is intended for Pick up Groups (PuGs), solo and small group players who have not developed their own (successful) strategies on how to counter organized groups. I see random groups and PuGs run into organized (ball) groups and die way too often and can only blame it on their not understanding what’s going on. I hope this helps!
Here are two short video examples of using a warden gate and the destro staff crafted area knock back to get a ball group out of an outpost.
Here’s a video example of disrupting a DC group while they were trying to kill and farm my allies, and the resulting anger on the part of the group leader (from their stream). If you can disrupt a group enough to make them stop and rant about you (in this case the belligerent and toxic streamer did so for about 15 minutes), during that time they’re not killing your allies who will be able to focus on map control. Keep in mind that when you are being very, very irritating your opponents will likely chase you down, you will likely die, but like players who go out in super-tank builds, you’re distracting many opponents giving your team the time to accomplish their goals.
The most important points to understand are:
Your criteria for success (winning) should not be killing them all, it should be something along the lines of making it so tough and irritating for them to farm pugs (decreasing their AP per hour to less than PvDoor activities) that they have no choice but to go elsewhere (or rage quit). With that in mind, read through the following points and consider best how you can contribute to the fight.
Remember that your goal is not necessarily to kill them, but to make it so challenging for them to achieve their goal of (easy) kills and enough AP (to make it worth the time) that they will go away. Killing them should be seen as an added bonus
